The owners of this Sunnyside home knew it was time to enhance their yard. After a lengthy period of little to no use, the yard had become overrun with interspersed patches of grass and weeds. The fencing was old and the railing leading down to the backyard was becoming unsafe. To fully take advantage of the space, we designed a decomposed granite and Arizona sandstone flagstone patio as a transition from the staircase to the larger lower area. We then replaced the aging staircase railing with natural redwood and constructed redwood perimeter fencing to match. We created an outdoor kitchen and fireplace using a stucco façade and sandstone cap. Redwood benches and veggie beds were installed to create more seating and bring fresh herbs closer to the kitchen. We topped off the yard with a dry riverbed and Mediterranean-planting scheme.
